Eirin Maria Kvandal won the opening women’s ski flying World Cup in Vikersund with 425.9 points. The Norwegian moved from second after the opening round to finish 5.4 ahead of Sweden’s Frida Westman, who earned her first podium in the discipline.

Westman jumped 225 metres in both rounds, establishing a Swedish distance record and taking the second World Cup podium of her career. Nika Prevc slipped from first to third after her final effort reached only 204.5 metres, leaving her on 412.1 points.

Anna Odine Stroem climbed five places to fifth with a personal best of 235.5 metres, just half a metre short of the existing women’s world record. Kvandal recorded her third win of the season before the weekend’s separate second competition.
