Langenhan sets two records to lead Olympic luge
The German held a 0.162-second advantage after the first two men’s singles runs.
Source publication date:
Max Langenhan led Olympic men’s singles luge after the first two runs in Cortina d’Ampezzo, setting a track record on each attempt. His times of 52.924 and 52.902 seconds produced a halfway total of 1:45.826.
Austria’s Jonas Müller finished second in both runs and stood 0.162 seconds behind. Italy’s Dominik Fischnaller was third, 0.298 seconds off the lead, leaving two further runs to determine the medals on the following day.
Langenhan competed after receiving treatment for neck pain that had threatened his participation. Although he struck a barrier at the start of his second run, his speed through the remainder of the track preserved his lead and improved the course benchmark again.
