Levacic and Dornbusch win Monaco’s national chess titles
The championship also determined the principality’s Olympiad team selections.

Damir Levacic won the Monaco Championship with 5.5 points from seven rounds, while Tatiana Dornbusch secured the women’s title. The combined Swiss event ran from 23 February to 1 March and included the principality’s leading male and female players.
Levacic recovered from a third-round defeat by Amir Bagheri and finished with three consecutive victories. Five players shared second place on five points, requiring tiebreaks to determine their order behind the champion.
Dornbusch scored 4.5 points and finished above Marija Zvereva on Buchholz. The results also shaped Monaco’s Olympiad line-ups: Levacic and Bagheri led the open selection, while Dornbusch, Zvereva, Svetlana Berezovska, Fiorina Berezovsky and Julia Lebel were named to the women’s team.
