Lewis Gard joins Welling’s midfield
The former Southend player arrives after helping Ramsgate win promotion.
Source publication date:
Welling United signed midfielder Lewis Gard to strengthen Ryan Maxwell's options in the centre of the pitch. The 26-year-old arrived after leaving Ramsgate earlier in the month, following an important role in the club's title-winning promotion campaign.
Gard developed at Southend United and made seventeen senior appearances for the club. His time there also included loans with Aveley and Heybridge Swifts before a permanent move to Tonbridge Angels in 2022.
He scored twelve goals in 82 league appearances for Tonbridge across two seasons. Gard joined Ramsgate before the 2024/25 campaign and helped the team progress to step three, adding recent promotion experience to Welling's squad as the manager continued recruitment.
