Lille Metropole secured a 3–0 home victory over STK Vyhne in the opening men’s Europe Cup quarterfinal leg. The French club took all three points, leaving its Slovak opponent with a substantial deficit before the second encounter scheduled for Sunday in Vyhne.
Romain Brard lost the first game against Boguslaw Koszyk but recovered to win the next three. Tom Closset then defeated Adam Klajber in straight games, extending the advantage without allowing Vyhne to establish a foothold in the team contest.
Fabio Rakotoarimanana faced the closest match of the evening against Filip Szymanski. He prevailed in five games, taking the short deciding game 6–4 to complete Lille’s sweep and strengthen its prospects of reaching the semifinals.
