Lutz and Xiao progress through Montreux last sixteen
The women’s opening main-draw programme combined decisive wins with extended five-game contests.

Qualifier Charlotte Lutz defeated Linda Bergstrom 3–0 to reach the Europe Top 16 quarterfinals in Montreux. Lutz conceded only seven points across the match, while Maria Xiao overcame previous runner-up Elizabeta Samara in a much closer five-game contest.
Xiao won an extended third game 24–22 before Samara forced a decider. Top seed Sabine Winter beat Shan Xiaona in straight games, and reigning champion Han Ying survived a recovery by qualifier Annett Kaufmann to win in five.
Jia Nan Yuan defeated Nina Mittelham in four games. Sofia Polcanova and Fu Yu advanced with straight-games wins over Jieni Shao and Prithika Pavade respectively, while Bernadette Szocs also progressed to the quarterfinal stage.
