Macau National University Sports Federation president Lou Kit Long signed the hosting contract for the 2026 FISU University World Cup 3x3 Basketball during a visit to FISU’s headquarters in Lausanne.
The May announcement placed the tournament in Macau at the end of October, succeeding Brasília’s 2025 edition. FISU said further competition and qualification details would follow rather than presenting a completed match schedule.
Teams in the University World Cup represent their universities as well as their countries. FISU highlighted the continental qualifying tournaments as part of the pathway, while noting a separate FIBA World Tour stop planned for Macau on 17–18 October.
