Machl and Von Moos win individual junior ski cross titles
Germany took men’s gold and bronze as Switzerland earned a women’s one-two.
Source publication date:
Sebastian Machl won the men’s ski cross title at the Junior World Championships in St Moritz, improving on bronze from the previous year. France’s Edgar Baillet took silver, while fastest qualifier Niklas Hoeller added bronze for Germany and Sweden’s Maans Abersten finished fourth in the final.
Machl qualified third before progressing through the rounds to win gold. France’s Noe Mari won the small final for fifth place, after the strongest qualifiers had generally advanced through the earlier heats before closer quarterfinal and semifinal contests.
Chiara Von Moos won the women’s title on home snow, leading qualification and every heat. Swiss teammate Valentine Lagger finished second, Canada’s Roxy Coatesworth third and Leena Thommen fourth, before the athletes returned for the separate mixed team event.
