Marche and Elshorbagy set Chicago quarterfinal meeting

Gregoire Marche and Marwan Elshorbagy reached the Windy City Open quarterfinals after four-game second-round victories. Marche defeated wild card Matias Knudsen to reach the Chicago event’s last eight for the first time, while Elshorbagy overcame Youssef Soliman.
Marche won the opening game before Knudsen levelled, then used his movement and experience to take the next two. Elshorbagy similarly regained control after Soliman equalised, setting up a quarterfinal between the two winners.
Nour ElSherbini defeated Hana Ramadan in straight games for her fifty-first Chicago match victory. Sivasangari Subramaniam beat Kenzy Ayman in four games, responding decisively after the Egyptian won a third-game tiebreak during the afternoon programme.
