Martínez and Clichy join the FAW coaching conference programme
The federation confirmed its first speakers for the May event in Newport.

Portugal coach Roberto Martinez and former France defender Gael Clichy were announced as the first guest speakers for the FAW National Coaches Conference. The annual event was scheduled for May 23 and 24, combining online access with sessions at Dragon Park and Celtic Manor in Newport.
Martinez began his managerial career with Swansea City before coaching Wigan, Everton, Belgium and Portugal. He completed his UEFA Pro Licence with the FAW and arrived on the programme after leading Portugal to the 2025 Nations League title, bringing senior international experience to the conference.
Clichy, then coaching Caen, had completed his UEFA B, A and Pro qualifications through Wales. The event would mix theoretical lectures with practical sessions and provide revalidation for several UEFA coaching diplomas, including professional, youth and goalkeeper qualifications.
