The French official linked athlete experience with her work as federation general secretary.
Source publication date:
Mathilde Pétriaux reflected on moving from France's national team into hockey administration in an FIH profile. The former goalkeeper served internationally from 2014 to 2024 and competed at Paris 2024, France's first women's Olympic hockey appearance.
She was elected general secretary of the French Hockey Federation in December 2024 after retirement. Her background in management and finance, together with elite playing experience, informed the transition and her ambition to support development and athletes' rights.
Pétriaux described France's progress from thirty-second in the rankings in 2019 to winning EuroHockey Championship II in 2021. She also identified structural change, leadership representation and development systems as priorities, encouraging former athletes to extend their involvement through decision-making roles.
