Victoria Mboko withdrew from Dubai with a right-elbow injury after reaching the Doha final and entering the world top ten. Barbora Krejcikova also withdrew before her second-round match because of a left-thigh injury, adding two further changes to the tournament draw.

Petra Marcinko replaced Mboko as a lucky loser and was scheduled to face Jaqueline Cristian. Krejcikova had already competed in the main draw, defeating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, so her withdrawal instead gave Amanda Anisimova a walkover into the third round.

Mboko and Krejcikova became the seventh and eighth withdrawals from the event. Their decisions followed other absences caused by illness, injury or schedule changes during the closely spaced Doha and Dubai tournaments.
