Victoria Mboko guaranteed her first top-ten ranking by defeating Jelena Ostapenko 6–3, 6–2 in the Doha semifinals. The nineteen-year-old advanced to her second WTA 1000 final, a year after competing mainly on the ITF circuit while ranked outside the top two hundred.
Mboko withstood Ostapenko’s aggressive start before using deep returns and varied early strikes to draw errors. She won the first five games of the second set and finished with fifteen winners, including six aces, against fifteen unforced errors.
The victory set up a final against Karolina Muchova and made Mboko the fourth Canadian woman to reach the top ten. Her earlier tour titles had come in Montreal and Hong Kong during 2025.
