The centre recorded 22 points and 13 rebounds in a 100–91 road victory.
Source publication date:
JaVale McGee returned from knee soreness to help Illawarra defeat Melbourne United 100–91 at John Cain Arena. The defending champions were already out of postseason contention, but the result damaged Melbourne’s pursuit of fourth place and a favourable play-in position.
McGee contributed 22 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and two blocks in fewer than 24 minutes. Tyler Harvey added 18, while several teammates reached double figures. Illawarra overturned Melbourne’s early 9–0 lead and established an advantage as large as 18.
Tyson Walker scored 30 and Milton Doyle 21 for United, which was again without coach Dean Vickerman and guard Shea Ili. Melbourne fell to 19–13, leaving Perth with the stronger position in the race for fourth before the closing fixtures.
