McGrath wins Kranjska Gora slalom by one hundredth
Kristoffersen and Pinheiro Braathen followed in a tightly grouped podium before the finale.
Source publication date:
Atle Lie McGrath won the men’s slalom in Kranjska Gora by one-hundredth of a second over Henrik Kristoffersen. Lucas Pinheiro Braathen finished third, four-hundredths behind, and Michael Matt fourth at six-hundredths as the leading racers were separated by exceptionally narrow margins in sunny conditions.
McGrath protected the lead established through a strong opening run, coping with ruts and growing pressure on the second descent. Kristoffersen recovered from untidy turns to set a challenging benchmark, while Pinheiro Braathen narrowly missed passing him before McGrath completed the winning performance.
The result left McGrath on 552 slalom points, forty-one ahead of Pinheiro Braathen with one race remaining. Clément Noël remained third in the standings on 475 and Kristoffersen fourth on 453 before Hafjell.
