Mehew’s late strike defeats leaders Torquay
Chippenham protected a clean sheet in a 1–0 home victory.
Source publication date:
Chippenham Town defeated league leaders Torquay United 1–0 at home after Tom Mehew scored late in the second half. The midfielder reacted to Freddie Grant's deep delivery in the 83rd minute, providing the decisive finish in a closely contested match.
Goalkeeper Will Henry made important saves as Torquay sought a breakthrough, including an attempt from substitute Dylan Morgan that was heading towards the top corner. Chippenham also threatened through Ezio Touray, who had a first-half effort cleared off the line.
Caine Bradbury narrowly missed another opportunity after the restart. Mehew eventually broke the deadlock, and Chippenham's defence resisted Torquay's final pressure. Henry collected a late header to confirm the clean sheet and secure all three points.
