Melbourne holds off Phoenix to finish regular season with derby win
Doyle and Walker led a 95–91 victory that kept United’s fourth-place chance alive overnight.

Melbourne United defeated South East Melbourne 95–91 in the final regular-season derby at John Cain Arena. The victory left United 20–13 and still able to finish fourth depending on Perth’s last result, while the Phoenix was fixed in third at 22–11.
Milton Doyle scored 25 and Tyson Walker 23, with each making five three-pointers. Jesse Edwards added 17 points and 11 rebounds. Melbourne established an early 16-point lead before Nathan Sobey inspired a 19–0 Phoenix run that reversed the advantage in the third quarter.
United responded with a 27–19 final period and secured the finish after Sobey missed a late attempt. Sobey led the Phoenix with 29. Coach Dean Vickerman returned after missing two games through appendicitis, while United collected 20 offensive rebounds.
