Mennenga’s career-high return lifts Breakers over Cairns

Sam Mennenga scored a career-best 32 points on his return from a fractured wrist as New Zealand defeated Cairns 115–84. The Breakers completed their NBL regular-season programme with a strong performance before the inaugural Ignite Cup final against Adelaide.
Mennenga made 15 of 19 shots and added nine rebounds and three assists. Karim Lopez also returned from injury with 15 points, while Parker Jackson-Cartwright supplied 19 points and 13 assists. New Zealand’s 37-point second quarter established control after scores had been level at the first break.
Andrew Andrews led Cairns with 24 and Kody Stattmann added 20. The Taipans ended their season at 9–24, while the Breakers retained the opportunity to finish their campaign with a trophy and substantial prize money.
