Merkushyna and Lindkvist-Floetten earn Oslo World Cup places
Junior championship performances created opportunities for two young biathletes at Holmenkollen.
Source publication date:
Oleksandra Merkushyna and Philip Lindkvist-Floetten earned places at the Oslo World Cup through their performances at the Junior World Championships in Arber. Both left with three medals, gaining opportunities to test themselves at the senior circuit’s final stop of the season.
Merkushyna, twenty-one, had already raced in the World Cup since 2022 and made her Olympic debut this winter. Her unexpected Oslo qualification changed plans to visit friends in Lillehammer, replacing a watching role with another competitive start and a chance to gain experience.
Nineteen-year-old Lindkvist-Floetten prepared for his first World Cup appearance. He identified qualifying for the pursuit and scoring points as targets, while describing his junior individual victory with twenty clean shots as a breakthrough.
