Two wins in the away return leg proved enough after Metz’s first-match advantage over Saint-Denis.
Source publication date:
Metz qualified for the women’s Champions League final four after taking the two points it required against Saint-Denis in the away return leg. A 3–1 first-match victory meant the second encounter could end once Metz established a 2–1 lead in the all-French quarterfinal.
Prithika Pavade initially gave Saint-Denis hope by defeating Mariia Tailakova in five games. Hana Goda responded with a straight-games win over Li Jie, levelling the return contest and bringing Metz within one point of qualification.
Charlotte Lutz delivered that point against Hana Arapovic, prevailing 6–3 in the short deciding game of another five-game match. Metz advanced to meet Cartagena in the semifinals of the first women’s Champions League final four.
