Organisers unveiled a new course for the 24th Milan Marathon, scheduled for 12 April. The route changed from a loop to a point-to-point layout, beginning on Corso Sempione and finishing in Piazza del Duomo.
At the January presentation, organisers reported 12,000 marathon registrations, already above the previous edition’s participation record. International entrants accounted for 70 per cent of that registered field, with a stated ambition to reach 15,000 runners.
The event presentation also covered the relay marathon, Family Run and running festival. Those registration figures described the position at announcement, while 15,000 was a target rather than a completed participation total. The new route was the principal confirmed competition change.
