Source publication date:
Chester beat Buxton 1–0 at the Deva Stadium, with Dylan Mottley-Henry scoring four minutes before the end of normal time. The forward headed Michael Kelly's corner past goalkeeper Joe Young to settle a game the hosts had struggled to unlock.
Buxton played almost the entire match with ten men after former Chester striker Kurt Willoughby was dismissed inside the opening two minutes. The visitors nevertheless threatened through Luke Brennan and held out through the first half.
Chester built sustained pressure after the interval, with Iwan Murray, Declan Weeks and Lewis Leigh shooting narrowly off target. Mottley-Henry's eventual breakthrough secured the points, and Pat Jones subsequently forced another save as the home side sought a second goal.
