Muchova concedes two games against Eala to reach Miami quarters

Karolina Muchova defeated Alexandra Eala 6–0, 6–2 in exactly one hour to reach her first Miami Open quarterfinal. The Doha champion won the opening ten games, improving her season record to seventeen victories and three defeats with a commanding fourth-round performance.

Muchova struck twenty winners against eleven unforced errors and did not face a break point. The first set lasted twenty-two minutes, during which she conceded only six points, and Eala did not reach game point until the second set’s third game.

The Filipino player avoided a double bagel by holding twice late in the match, but could not trouble Muchova’s serve. The Czech lost only eight service points overall and closed on her third match point to continue her strong start to the season.
