The Czech extended her unbeaten tour record against Sakkari after recovering from a set down.
Source publication date:
Karolina Muchova reached the Doha final by defeating Maria Sakkari 3–6, 6–4, 6–1. The Czech recovered after Sakkari won five consecutive games to establish a set and 2–0 lead, extending her unbeaten tour-level record against the Greek to five matches.
Muchova responded with a five-game run of her own in the second set. Sakkari reduced the deficit to 5–4, but Muchova held to force a decider and then controlled the third set to complete the comeback.
The result sent Muchova into her third WTA 1000 final, where she would face Victoria Mboko for the first time. Her only previous tour singles title had come in Seoul in 2019.
