Source publication date:
Kokomo Murase won the Olympic women’s snowboard big air final in Livigno with 179 points, adding gold to her Beijing bronze. Zoi Sadowski-Synnott took silver and Seungeun Yu won bronze with 171 points in her Olympic debut.
Murase secured first place through a final frontside triple cork 1440 worth 89.25 points, combined with her opening backside triple cork 1440. Yu had led after two rounds, but could not improve her total after a difficult final landing.
The result extended Japan’s successful big air programme after its men’s one-two. Sadowski-Synnott became the first woman snowboarder to win four Olympic medals, while Britain’s Mia Brookes finished fourth, one place outside the medals.
