Two second-half goals secured a 2-1 result in Islamabad.
Source publication date:
Myanmar defeated Pakistan 2-1 to end their Asian Cup qualifying campaign with a fourth victory. The away win in Islamabad took Myanmar to twelve points in Group E, while Pakistan concluded the final round on two.
The first half remained scoreless after opportunities at both ends. Myanmar threatened through Zaw Win Thein and Than Paing, while goalkeeper Zin Nyi Nyi Aung saved efforts from Alamgir Khan and Shayak Dost to keep Pakistan from taking the lead.
A goalkeeper error following a back pass gave Myanmar the opening goal immediately after the interval. Than Paing then converted Lwin Moe Aung’s cross to double the advantage. Dost’s stoppage-time header reduced the margin, but Myanmar retained the win and completed their campaign positively.
