Sandra Naeslund won the opening women’s ski cross World Cup in Gallivare after securing her fifth Crystal Globe earlier in the rounds. The Swede defeated Daniela Maier by 0.21 seconds in the final, with Canada’s Hannah Schmidt third and Linnea Mobaerg fourth.

Naeslund’s tenth win of the season brought her total to 1,168 points, a record for the discipline across either gender. She had needed a top-ten result to make her championship lead unassailable and achieved that through victory in her opening quarterfinal.

David Mobaerg completed the Swedish home double by beating Reece Howden by 0.28 seconds in the men’s final. Germany’s Kilian Himmelsbach took third in his first World Cup big final, while Tyler Wallasch placed fourth.
