Kanta Nakano won the men’s over-100kg title at the Paris Grand Slam after an all-Japanese final against Hyoga Ota. The contest remained cautious early, with both competitors receiving penalties before Nakano increased his attacking activity and Ota accumulated a third shido.
Korea’s Minjong Kim earned one bronze medal by defeating Irakli Demetrashvili of Georgia. Kim scored a yuko with an o-soto-gari with twenty seconds remaining, which proved enough to settle their contest and put the world and Olympic medallist on the podium.
Jur Spijkers claimed the other bronze against Artem Zolotukhin. Their match lasted seven minutes before Zolotukhin’s third penalty decided it in the Dutch athlete’s favour. The heavyweight final brought the last medals of the two-day Paris tournament to their recipients.
