NBL announces awards nominees and voting process
An expert panel established candidate lists before coaches and captains cast their ballots.
Source publication date:
The NBL released nominee lists for its principal 2025–26 player awards before the Andrew Gaze MVP Awards Night. Categories included most valuable player, most improved, next generation, sixth man and defensive player, with an expert panel determining the initial candidates.
The five-person panel comprised Andrew Gaze, Olgun Uluc, Derek Rucker, Michael Cedar and John Casey. Coaches and captains from all ten teams then voted, with each prohibited from selecting players from their own club. Finalists were to be announced after voting concluded.
MVP nominees included Bryce Cotton, Kendric Davis, Kristian Doolittle, Nathan Sobey and other leading players. All coaches remained eligible for the Lindsay Gaze Trophy, while All-NBL teams and further individual honours would be announced at the February ceremony.
