NBL chief executive David Stevenson said the league had no plans to change its private MVP voting process after Kendric Davis called for greater transparency. Davis had finished two votes behind Bryce Cotton and publicly criticised how the award was decided.

The model uses coaches, captains and a five-person expert panel. Stevenson said private voting allows participants to choose freely and suggested public ballots might influence decisions. He nevertheless said the process would form part of the league’s regular operational review.

Stevenson welcomed players expressing respectful views and acknowledged merit in Davis’s concerns. The February response maintained the existing system while leaving the subject open to consideration, as both guards prepared to lead their clubs into the forthcoming NBL postseason.
