Basketball New Zealand announced a five year shared services agreement with Basketball Australia to strengthen integrity and safeguarding support. The arrangement gives the New Zealand federation access to Australia's specialist Integrity Unit, established processes and reporting mechanisms.
The partnership covers ongoing education, secure reporting and whistleblowing channels, case management, trend analysis and regular reports to New Zealand's leadership. It also provides for cooperation with relevant integrity organisations and other stakeholders in the country.
Chief executive Belinda Edwards described the agreement as an immediate increase in capacity across grassroots and elite basketball. Australia's Matt Scriven emphasised shared expertise and stronger systems. New Zealand participants were directed to the independent Stopline service, with anonymous reporting available through the new support arrangement.
