The Olympic champion returns to the meeting seven years after his previous appearance.
Source publication date:
Noah Lyles was announced for the 100m at the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea in Rome on 4 June. The Olympic champion will race at the Olympic Stadium during the fifth Diamond League meeting of 2026, the season’s first European stop.
Lyles previously competed at the Golden Gala in 2019, finishing second over 200m in 19.72 behind Michael Norman’s meeting record of 19.70. His time matched Pietro Mennea’s enduring European record, although achieved in a different race.
The American arrives with eight world titles across the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay, plus Olympic 100m gold from Paris. Organisers said further details of the Rome sprint field would follow, with tickets already available through TicketOne.
