Northern Ireland draws Hungary, Ukraine and Georgia in Nations League
Promotion brings Michael O’Neill’s side into League B competition.
Source publication date:
Northern Ireland was drawn with Hungary, Ukraine and Georgia for the next UEFA Nations League campaign. The February 12 draw in Belgium set the opponents for Michael O’Neill’s team after promotion from League C to League B.
Hungary is the group’s top seed. Northern Ireland’s previous meetings with Hungary include the 2014 victory in Budapest that began its successful Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, while Ukraine was an opponent at the finals in France.
Georgia provides a less familiar challenge, having previously faced Northern Ireland in one senior international. O’Neill described the group as competitive and said his side would approach each match with ambition. Group fixtures are scheduled between September and November 2026.
