Novara, Zeren and Milano won the first legs of their women’s Champions League play-off ties. Each moved within two sets of reaching the quarter-finals, but the official report emphasised that return matches would still determine the final outcome of qualification.
Novara defeated reigning club world champions Scandicci 3–1 after losing their two earlier seasonal meetings. Tatiana Tolok scored thirty-two points with a fifty-five per cent attacking success rate and was named the match’s most valuable player.
Milano won 3–0 away at Olympiacos in Piraeus, while Zeren secured their first-leg advantage against Schwerin. Novara coach Lorenzo Bernardi urged his side to approach the return without relying on the lead, recognising the difficulty of facing Scandicci again on the Tuscan club’s home court.
