Nyéki sets Budapest target for renewed Recco rivalry
The FTC coach discussed his team’s next Champions League phase in a new federation interview.

FTC Telekom coach Balázs Nyéki identified a home victory over Pro Recco as his team’s aim after the Champions League quarter-final draw paired the clubs. In a new European Aquatics interview, he described their current rivalry as the leading contest in the sport.
Nyéki said Recco had returned to the highest competitive level following its summer recruitment and changes to the team. He expected difficult matches because both clubs contained players among the strongest in international water polo, while emphasising the opportunity to win the first meeting in Budapest.
The coach pointed to the clubs’ closely contested Super Cup final as an indication of the challenge ahead. He expected the two forthcoming meetings to offer a similarly competitive contest, with the first match giving FTC an opportunity to win in Budapest.
