Odense and Team Esbjerg opened their women's Champions League play-off ties with away wins. Odense defeated Debrecen 37–32 in the featured match, while Esbjerg returned from Croatia with a 37–26 victory over Podravka.

Goalkeeper Yara ten Holte made 21 saves at just under forty per cent efficiency and received the player of the match award. Helene Fauske contributed eight goals as Odense established a five goal half-time lead and kept the contest under control.

Henny Reistad scored eleven for Esbjerg, lifting her competition total to 110. Thirteen of the visitors' fourteen outfield players found the net, and a late Podravka scoring drought allowed the Danish side to extend its margin before the return match.
