Source publication date:
Marco Odermatt won the men’s World Cup downhill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, leading a Swiss podium sweep ahead of Alexis Monney and Stefan Rogentin. Monney finished only four hundredths behind on the Kandahar course after matching much of Odermatt’s early pace.
The victory was Odermatt’s fourth downhill win of the season and fifty-fourth World Cup win overall. That career total placed him alongside Hermann Maier in third position on the men’s all-time winners list.
Odermatt moved 175 points ahead of Franjo von Allmen in the downhill standings with two races remaining. Von Allmen finished sixth, while Vincent Kriechmayr and Giovanni Franzoni tied for fourth, 1.20 seconds behind the winner and outside the all-Swiss medal positions.
