Hungary’s men’s under-16 team defeated Sweden 1-0 in Telki in its first match of 2026. Dávid Orji scored the winner in the 23rd minute, finishing after Márk Sárdi released Timót Farkas and the winger supplied a measured pass into the centre.
Orji suffered a shoulder injury early in the second half and was replaced by Botond Szegedi. Goalkeeper Marcell Mácsik then made the match’s standout save to deny Sweden captain Levi Hansas, helping Hungary preserve its narrow advantage against the visitors’ pressure.
Coach László Szalai said the squad had already been affected by injuries and illness in the camp. He praised the players’ motivation and adherence to the tactical plan, with the teams scheduled to meet again at Telki later in the week.
