Liverpool Women completed the permanent signing of Denise O’Sullivan from North Carolina Courage, subject to international clearance. The 31-year-old midfielder arrived with 128 Republic of Ireland appearances and was given Liverpool’s number six shirt.

O’Sullivan spent eight-and-a-half years in the National Women’s Soccer League. With the Courage she won two championships, three Shields and two Challenge Cups, becoming captain before the 2023 season and leaving as their leading appearance maker.

She had also represented Cork City, Peamount United, Glasgow City and Houston Dash, with a previous English league loan at Brighton. At international level, she played in Ireland’s first Women’s World Cup finals in 2023 and was twice named national player of the year.
