Brentford held their lead despite Schade’s first-half dismissal.
Source publication date:
Brentford beat Aston Villa 1-0 at Villa Park despite playing more than half the match with ten men. Dango Ouattara supplied the decisive goal in first-half stoppage time after Kevin Schade received a red card for kicking Matty Cash.
Ouattara struck into the far corner after his attempted cross rebounded from Pau Torres. Villa’s returning striker Tammy Abraham had earlier been denied by Caoimhin Kelleher and later saw a possible equaliser ruled out during the second half.
Unai Emery’s team applied sustained pressure without finding a valid response. The result lifted Brentford into seventh position, five points outside the top four, while Villa’s deficit to league leaders Arsenal grew to seven points.
