Palmero records fastest Italian women’s marathon debut
Her fourth-place 2:24:10 finish in Seville led several national personal bests.

Elisa Palmero ran 2:24:10 for fourth place at the Seville Marathon, producing the fastest marathon debut by an Italian woman. The twenty-six-year-old surpassed the previous debut benchmark of 2:29:12 and moved to sixth on Italy’s all-time list.
Palmero passed halfway in 1:12:28 and completed a faster second half, finishing less than one minute outside the Italian record. Rebecca Lonedo improved her own best by more than four minutes to 2:24:28, placing seventh.
Both women achieved the qualifying standard for the European Championships in Birmingham. Ahmed Ouhda also improved his marathon personal best to 2:08:37, completing a strong Italian showing at the Spanish road race reported by FIDAL on 15 February.
