Alycia Parks and Magdalena Frech produced major recoveries during Doha’s opening day. Parks defeated Diana Shnaider 1–6, 6–4, 7–6, while lucky loser Frech saved three match points before beating Liudmila Samsonova 6–3, 4–6, 7–6 in a contest approaching three hours.

Vera Zvonareva defeated Peyton Stearns 2–6, 6–2, 6–3 for her first tour main-draw singles victory since October 2023. The forty-one-year-old had returned from a lengthy absence after surgery and advanced to face Victoria Mboko.

Mboko won her Doha debut 7–5, 6–2 against Marie Bouzkova. Karolina Muchova, Elise Mertens, Daria Kasatkina and Elisabetta Cocciaretto also progressed as the first WTA 1000 tournament of the season began.
