Gaetan Paturel reflected on changing his approach to competition before making his World Cup debut in Oslo. The twenty-two-year-old French biathlete said a difficult start to the IBU Cup season led him to focus more on enjoying skiing and shooting than controlling each result.

His initial goals were first IBU Cup podiums and progression to the World Cup. A breakthrough podium in Lenzerheide preceded his first win in Sjusjøen, and the season subsequently brought overall, sprint and pursuit titles beyond his original expectations for the winter.

Paturel also described enjoying the unfamiliar Lake Placid venue and playing hockey on the lake with teammates. His interview connected the competitive progression with finding enjoyment after missing an earlier World Cup opportunity.
