Pegula defeats Jovic in first tour meeting
A straight-set third-round victory set up a Dubai quarterfinal against Clara Tauson.

Jessica Pegula defeated Iva Jovic 6–4, 6–2 in their first tour-level meeting to reach the Dubai quarterfinals. The experienced American remained unbroken throughout the third-round match and converted key return opportunities against the eighteen-year-old, who had reached the Australian Open quarterfinals the previous month.
A break for 4–3 gave Pegula the opening-set advantage. After Jovic held to begin the second set, Pegula won five consecutive games, creating a lead that the younger player could not overturn.
Pegula’s next opponent was Clara Tauson, who defeated Magda Linette by the same score. The quarterfinal would also be a first singles meeting between its participants, with Tauson returning after reaching the Dubai final in 2025.
