Jessica Pegula defeated Jelena Ostapenko 4–6, 6–3, 6–2 to reach the Indian Wells fourth round. The American struck eleven aces, her highest total in a WTA match, while committing only one double fault during a turnaround from a difficult opening set.

Ostapenko controlled early rallies with aggressive, accurate hitting before Pegula steadied her serve and began reading the Latvian’s delivery. Six consecutive games spanning the second and third sets helped the world number five establish control after a long search for momentum.

At 2–2 in the decider, Pegula earned the decisive break and added another two games later with a powerful crosscourt return. She advanced to face Belinda Bencic, seeking a first victory against the Swiss after losing their four previous meetings.
