Pegula rallies past Anisimova into Dubai final
The fourth seed recovered from a set and a break down to extend her perfect head-to-head record.
Source publication date:
Jessica Pegula recovered from 6–1, 3–1 down to defeat Amanda Anisimova 1–6, 6–4, 6–3 in the Dubai semifinals. The two-hour victory extended Pegula’s head-to-head record to five wins without defeat and sent her into a first championship match at the tournament.
Anisimova controlled the opening set and established an early second-set lead. Pegula gradually disrupted that rhythm with defensive variety and longer exchanges, eventually winning seven of eight games from 4–3 down in the second set to build a decisive advantage.
The result secured Pegula’s twenty-first tour final and a meeting with Elina Svitolina. Both Americans had come through three-set quarterfinals, but Pegula converted her recovery into another chance to win a WTA 1000 title.
