Ellen Perez joined the WTA Foundation and Special Olympics for a tennis clinic attended by thirty athletes. Former players Yaroslava Shvedova and Daria Jurak supported the session, which formed part of the foundation’s work to expand participation and visibility for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
Special Olympics World Games silver medallist Clara Lehmkuhl became the first Special Olympics athlete to act as an assistant coach at a WTA clinic. She later conducted the centre-court coin toss before Liudmila Samsonova’s match against Janice Tjen.
