Lucas Pinheiro Braathen won the men’s giant slalom in Kranjska Gora, recording his first World Cup victory in the discipline while representing Brazil. He led after the opening run and protected that position on a direct second-run course, completing another major milestone after his Olympic success.

Loïc Meillard finished second and Stefan Brennsteiner third. Atle Lie McGrath placed fourth, while Marco Odermatt took fifth after falling short of the podium. Pinheiro Braathen’s opening advantage of fourteen-hundredths left little room for error before the decisive descent.

The result reduced Odermatt’s giant slalom lead to forty-eight points with one race remaining. Pinheiro Braathen therefore kept the discipline contest open heading towards the final, while the podium also maintained Switzerland and Austria’s presence near the front.
