Pirovano wins another Val di Fassa downhill by one hundredth
The Italian followed her breakthrough victory with another close finish and the standings lead.
Source publication date:
Laura Pirovano won the second women’s downhill in Val di Fassa by one-hundredth of a second over Cornelia Hütter. Corinne Suter finished third, five-hundredths behind, as another exceptionally close contest rewarded the Italian’s speed through the lower sections and accuracy over a demanding course.
The victory came one day after Pirovano’s first World Cup podium and win. Before that breakthrough, she had completed 124 starts without reaching the top three. Repeating the result required her to manage fatigue and intense emotions while maintaining control through increasingly difficult snow conditions.
Pirovano moved to 436 downhill points, twenty-eight ahead of Emma Aicher on 408. Aicher tied for twelfth in this race, leaving the discipline title unresolved before the final scheduled downhill of the campaign.
