The British Paralympic champion lowered the Concept2 mark to 6:56.7 at Caversham.
Source publication date:
Benjamin Pritchard set a PR1 2,000-metre indoor rowing world record of 6:56.7 at the National Training Centre in Caversham. British Rowing reported the performance on 5 June 2026.
The Concept2 ergometer result improved the previous 7:01.1 mark by 4.4 seconds and took the record below seven minutes. It was achieved on an indoor machine, rather than in a single-sculls race on water.
Pritchard’s on-water world-best time of 8:40.38, recorded in Plovdiv in 2025, is a different measure and was not replaced by this performance. The distinction prevents two separate record categories from being confused.
The athlete worked with head coach Nicola Benavente in the British Para rowing programme. The result records a specific completed performance; it does not predict later championship medals or equate ergometer speed with a race result.
